Our organization provides books and literacy services for children and adults.
Health Literacy and social services provided by Community Health Workers, and Promotoras assist clients with Medicaid application assistance for the Elderly and Disabled (MEPD), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Pregnancy Medicaid, Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
Healthcare Marketplace Navigators and Certified Providers for the Texas Department of Insurance provide enrollment assistance for families that are uninsured through the marketplace.
Financial literacy education is provided for money management and asset building skills. In partnership with the IRS, we also provide Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) in English and Spanish by IRS certified tax volunteers to families with a low-to-moderate income of $57,000 or less. Services are provided through a collaboration at mobile sites for nonprofit organizations, apartment complexes, churches, homeless individuals, veterans organizations, and community centers.
Children’s Books on Wheels has a referral system in place for those services not provided by the organization.
